This law proposed by Senate Bill 103 (Statutes of 1995, Chapter 440) is submitted to the people in accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section 10 of the Constitution. This proposed law adds a section to the Penal Code; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are printed in italic type to indicate that they are new.

SECTION 1. Section 2717.9 is added to the Penal Code, to read:

2717.9. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a prisoner who participates in a joint venture program is ineligible for unemployment benefits upon his or her release from prison based upon participation in that program.
