I believe the family is the most important institution in society. The prosperity, happiness, and welfare of California are founded on the strength and success of our families. I ask you to elect me Governor so together we can protect and strengthen our families and our economic and social prosperity. My wife Lourdes and I have been married for 35 years. Our family is our greatest joy. My 37 years of experience founding and managing a business that exports American-made buses to Mexico, has thoroughly educated me in the economic realities necessary to restore California's fiscal health. As a former Marine, I understand the need for public safety and security. We must protect the family from influences and organizations that attack it. I will support the rights of fathers and mothers in the education and protection of their children. I will oppose providing taxpayers' dollars to organizations which harm families, including those providing abortions and birth control drugs and devices to minor girls without parents' knowledge. I vigorously support promoting a ballot initiative, www.tell-a-parent.org, that will assure that a parent must be notified before a daughter—even as young as 13—can undergo a taxpayer-funded abortion. I will clean up waste and extravagance in government and oppose tax increases on necessities such as your family car. I will oppose all that weakens and impoverishes the families of our beloved state. I wish to serve you and the State of my birth, and I ask for your vote.
