Candidate Statement Information

Presidential Candidate Statements
Legislative Candidate Statement Information

The Voter Information Guide that is printed and mailed to voters only includes information on statewide ballot measures.

Here on the Voter Information Guide website, the Secretary of State has provided all candidates running for President of the United States with the opportunity to submit a 250-word candidate statement.

County elections officials print sample ballot booklets that include information on local races.  Under Proposition 34, which was approved by voters in November 2000, candidates running for a state Assembly or state Senate office are permitted to buy a 250-word candidate statement in the county sample ballot booklet if they accept Proposition 34’s voluntary spending limits.  You can view a list of state Assembly and state Senate candidates who have accepted the campaign spending limits by going to www.sos.ca.gov/elections/candidate_stmts/prop34-nov08-082808-final.pdf.

To view the individual statements that candidates have submitted for publication in the county sample ballot booklets, you will need to go directly to the individual county where the candidate is running for office.  You can view a list of county elections offices by going to www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_d.htm.
