Time for a Change

Democrats and Republicans have raised your taxes, increased the size of government, and enacted laws that violate your personal liberties and economic freedom. It's time for a change.

Regardless of their party labels and whatever they promise during their campaigns, the "bipartisan" big government politicians in Washington never take serious action to actually cut government back to the role envisioned by our nation's founders and defined by our Constitution.

The "opposing" budget plans that were the subject of such a fuss this year both would have added to the deficit and allowed government spending to rise. The Republicans and Democrats only disagreed on how fast the budget would increase. This is a choice?

Meanwhile, the politicians in Sacramento keep passing more laws to control your life and your business, and keep coming up with tricks to dismantle or evade the limits that the people have placed on government's ability to take more and more of your hard-earned money.

The policies enacted by the Democrats and Republicans have only made the problems they say they are trying to solve worse.

It's time for a new outlook on government, and new people in Washington and Sacramento.

The Libertarian Alternative

The Libertarian Party has clear, principled, and practical solutions to today's problems, but they are often overlooked because they involve using less government, and less tax money. But they offer more choice for you, and more money for you to spend on the things you think are important.

The Libertarian Party was founded to be the political alternative for voters who believe the strength of our nation comes from the principles of individual liberty and individual responsibility:

Founded in Denver, Colorado in 1971, the Libertarian Party has been recognized as a political party in California since 1979. The LP has run candidates for president and vice-president in every election since its founding. The LP's national ticket was on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in 1992. The 1996 ticket, to be nominated the weekend of July 4th, is expected to again be on the ballot nationwide.

Hundreds of Libertarians are running for Congress in 1996 -- more than 40 in California alone. Libertarian candidates for the California Senate and Assembly offer you a refreshing alternative to the same old policies in Sacramento. Nationwide, more than 1,000 Libertarians are expected to run for federal, state, and local office this year.
