Secretary of State Elections My Vote Counts Feedback |
DEMOCRATIC PARTY The California Democratic Party is joined by a statewide coalition of "Californians Against the Costly Recall" to urge a NO vote on this irresponsible and chaotic recall. Governor Davis was elected in 2002, now California taxpayers are forced to spend $67 million for a second election - just eleven months later! These political shenanigans will not solve America's economic mess. Forty-seven governors have deficits in their states this year, and most were larger than what economists had predicted. Through Governor Davis' leadership, a budget was signed, eliminating a $38 billion deficit. Governor Davis signed some of the best laws in America, including Family Leave, adding a woman's right to choose to our Constitution, fighting global warming, stem cell research to find cures for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Muscular Dystrophy. Many of the same people against those laws are now leading the recall. Join law enforcement, firefighters, teachers, business leaders, the bipartisan California Business Roundtable, thousands of community organizations and others to say NO to this recall and get back to solving California's problems. Proposition 54 must also be defeated - a poorly written initiative that statewide health care organizations say may have a devastating effect on public health and hinder hate crime investigations.
